Federal source check · Oct. 26, 2026 Natural kratom leaf, mitragynine, and 7-OH remain federally unscheduled. DEA published a replacement notice stating that its earlier elevated-7-OH proposal is withdrawn and proposing threshold-based control of 7-OH and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl; no replacement order can issue before November 13. Mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16 remain temporarily in Schedule I under the August 26 order while that process is pending. FDA says kratom is not lawfully marketed as a drug, dietary supplement, or conventional food additive.
